It's in the town. brand new LP discography; Minutes to Midnight. Lots of review view this album as a sign of maturity for LP. This is one hell of experiment album. Lots of mixed up, varying element of Korn, U2, alternative rock, gospel, Pop Shuvit, and pop rock. So, here's my review on Minutes to Midnight:
A so-so album with 2 or 3 songs to bomb. Most of the songs slow paced, with very few serious guitar touch.
Songs:
Wake - 1:42
A "foreward" song. No lyrics, purely music. some guitar touch near to end. an OK song.
Given Up - 3:11
Korn style. start with claps, continuous with guitar touch. A sense of LP style of music. A bit hard song. Most probably will be a hit song. and yes, chester do scream in this song. so LP.
Leave Out All The Rest - 3:31
Still have sense of LP style of music. A bit slow though, nicely put lyrics. Heart broken song. No chester screaming. A bit mellow. Most probably not a hit song in USA, i think.
Bleed It Out - 2:46 - [You Tube Video]
Fast paced song. Pop Shuvit style, using hand claps, repetitive lines. An emo song. I predict this song will be a hit.
Shadow of the Day - 4:51
An alternative rock. No LP style of music at all. Too mellow for LP. if i never heard it from LP, i might think this song from some other alternative group.
What I've Done - 3:28 - [You Tube Video]
LP style of music. Definitely a hit.
Hands Held High - 3:55 - [You Tube Video]
It sound like gospel music meet rap. listen to it if you don't believe me. so not LP. of course, no screaming. people won't believe this song is LP song. a deep song though.
No More Sorrow - 3:43
The start of this song seriously sound like rock kapak song. like mimpi syakilla or something. a bit hard with guitar.
Valentine's Day - 3:18
A confusing song. It's drum sound like indon pop rock but the guitar sound like alternative rock. A mellow song. nearly the end, some heavy touch of guitar.
In Between - 3:18
A very simple song but strong lyrics. Very minimal music. Sound like Switchfoot.
In Pieces - 3:39
A weird song. Sound like reggae but with rock touch. Hahaha. A very confusing song. an interesting ending with some unique guitar touch.
The Little Things Give You Away - 6:25
Weird sound effect. If guitar left strumming alone, it will be much better. A mixed song, bringing all factors of previous songs to this. you can say that this song as a conclusion to LP experiment in this album.
In overall, not my favorite LP album. They still experimenting with new genre of music. A sign of maturity or perhaps a step to move to other genre. we'll see more from LP.

hmm.. given up is not like Korn song. seriously. not heavy enough to be like Korn.
in Korn, its not only the guitar thats heavy, but also the bass. Mind you, Korn play a different tune than standard; not Drop D, a little of Drop B. I dunno what Drop it is.
But this song, if its not standard, than it would be Drop D tuning. Not to mention no DJ works here. Its merely some simple strumming and scream.
I may say its more to alternative rock - Offspring maybe?
Bleed it out - maybe a little touch of Korn. Feel the difference of the bass. But well, Pop Shuvit also close enough. Pop Shuvit without a scream.
Hands Held High? huhu. the drum is close enough like MCR - The Black Parade. Dem I just dont like MCR. If not for the rap, I'd say that I don't like at all for this song.
Overall, its kinda too experimental, too diversed, not LP trademarks. Maybe some fan will still like it, but not for me though.
