For those who don't know who the hell is Steven Gerrard; he's English football player, currently captain of Liverpool Football Club. Gerrard as many of Liverpool fan is a hero. I couldn't see why he shouldn't be Liverpool hero! (owh..this is so going to be bias!)Anyway, reading the book and seeing him in press conference is totally hell and heaven comparison. During press conference, he's a composed man, cold and very very serious. I never see him joking around during press conference. The utter joy of his face could only be seen during Liverpool scoring goal or winning matches. Hey, even he didn't smile in the cover page for his autobiography.
Reading his book giving you the new side of him; the shy, family man, passionate fan of LFC and most of all; a passionate football player. He just love football too much! Reading his journey through his youth in Ironside till become Three Lions first XI, he just outpouring everything in this book.
Winning and losing, depression, difficult time, happy time, marriage, honour and shame all in one book. If you ask me whether this book is worthy your read, i will say YES! It's might not be the most beautifully crafted book with poetic language but it speaks the measure of the man; his honesty in telling his story. Heck, he don't even hide that he's crying when he went in and out due to injury and few others disturbing comments. But he is what he is and for his passion for football and Liverpool, this book moved me in so many ways.
It quite thick but it worth it. A month to finish reading this while traveling for company's affair. Definitely recommended for die hard fan of LFC.
p/s: the building office here named "KOP", feel like at The KOP, Anfield (the name almost there, just the distant so far).
